PlayStation Plus and PlayStation Now subscription stacking are now reportedly being blocked in both PS5 and PS4 players.
It comes as the PlayStation Plus subscription service is already inching closer to launching its massive revamp.
PlayStation Plus, PS Now Subscription Stacking Blocked?
As per a news story by Push Square, there have been reports from the owners of the Sony consoles that they could no longer redeem their PS Plus promo codes.
The news outlet added that the promo code error is more prevalent in the European region. However, it appears that the issue also affects other parts of the world like the United States.
To be more precise, Sony provides an error code saying that "the pre-paid card could not be redeemed."
Interestingly, the prompt also told PlayStation users to "please try again." That said, a Twitter user that goes by the username "heelishEdgeKliq" did try again for three days straight. But the pre-paid card error persisted.
PlayStation Plus, PS Now Subscription Stacking
According to a recent report by Video Games Chronicle, owners of PS4 and PS5 have discovered a loophole to amass massive savings for the upcoming PS Plus Premium tier.
The media outlet noted that PlayStation users have gone the route of buying a PS Now subscription that would last for a year while they are still available at a relatively cheaper price.
It is worth noting that the PS Plus Premium subscription membership carries the annual price tag of $119.99 once it debuts in June.
On the other hand, the 12-month-long subscription to PS Now only sells for $59.99.
As a result, getting the year-long PS Now before the launch of PS Plus Premium gives its users dramatically high savings for the new subscription service.
After all, Sony already confirmed that current PS Plus and PS Now subscribers will automatically transition to the upcoming PS Plus tiers once it starts rolling out.
Sony Confirms PS Plus Cards Disabled
Meanwhile, Push Square added in the same report that the support department of Sony has confirmed that it is now preventing PlayStation users from subscription stacking.
The support email admitted that "there is a temporarily deactivated function" for both PS Plus and PS Now subscriptions.
However, the Sony support team reiterated in its email that the function is only disabled temporarily.
Despite that, pre-paid PS Plus cards are still available on Amazon and other e-stores. On the flip side, Shop To appears to have already gotten rid of it.
