What Are the New Features of Photoshop for iPads?

Content-Aware Fill is a quick way to get rid of distracting elements in the background of a photo. It allows users to take any selection then use AI to fill the contents based on the surrounding image, according to Macrumors.

For removing the background, the Remove Background tool is the best option. It is designed to be a one-click option for removing the background without affecting the quality of the image.

Meanwhile, Select Subject Portrait lets users select the people in an image and refine details like wisps of hair and edges of clothes, as per Macrumors.

The new Photoshop for ‌iPad‌ app also features a font browser and auto-tone, color, and contrast.

Adobe is also updating its Fresco drawing and painting app with a "Liquify" option for distorting images. This comes together with the update to Photoshop for ‌iPads‌.

Other features of Fresco drawing include a "Magic Wand" button for selecting a colored area and new "Accessibility" features.

Adobe Photoshop for iPads and Adobe Fresco are available on the App Store. Photoshop for ‌iPad‌ can be bought for $9.99 per month as part of Adobe's Photography plan, and Fresco is also priced at $9.99 per month.

Adobe Rolled Out Updates for Photoshop on iPads Earlier in 2020

According to Engadget, Adobe already rolled out new updates in Photoshop for iPads in February 2020.

One of the features added in 2020 is the "Object Selection." Through this, Adobe's AI and machine learning will automatically make a selection for you beyond just the main subject.

To use the Object Selection tool, you simply draw a rectangle or lasso around the are that you need to select, then, Photoshop will find the "primary objects" in the highlighted area.

Another feature that Adobe added to Photoshop for iPads is type settings tool. The update include type layer, character and options properties.

This means you can adjust things like tracking, leading, scaling and formatting. However, kerning, a key typographic adjustment for designers, won't be available until a "future release," according to Engadget.

According to Adobe, it made panning and zooming smoother and more responsive. The same thing goes for using the hand tool to move around the canvas on large documents.

Basically, when you're making your way in, out and around Photoshop files, things should seem "more buttery" and less jittery as you navigate with your stylus, as per Engadget report.

Photoshop for the iPad was initially launched in 2019. Adobe claimed that they've been working hard to add more of the desktop features to the mobile version ever since.

The updates have been taking some time as there are adjustment needed to turn the application from a mouse-based UI to a finger-based touchscreen.
