BMW M4 CLS 2023, simply put, is faster and lighter than the M4 Competition, the Germany-based luxury carmaker says as it unveils.
The renowned automaker also shared the hefty pricing details of the next-generation M4.
BMW M4 CLS 2023
BMW introduced the all-new 2023 M4 Competition Sports Lightweight (CLS) model is, as the name clearly suggests, lighter, but it is also packed with dramatically more power as well.
As per a news story by Car and Driver, the folks at the German luxury carmaker are taking its CLS badge pretty seriously rather than making it a mere marketing spoof. Its specs should speak for it.
The next-gen M4 CLS shed significant weight to deserve the "lightweight" namesake. Its drastic weight reduction slashed 240 pounds compared to the M4 Competition.
Car and Driver did the math, which tells us that the M4 CLS is dropping roughly 6.7 pounds per horsepower.
BMW M4 CLS 2023 Is Faster
Speaking of its horses, the latest M4 still sports the same twin-turbo 3.0-liter inline six engine, which also powers its Competition sibling.
However, BMW decided to give its peak turbo boost more power by increasing it from 24.7 psi to 30.5 psi. The luxury carmaker says it gives off a whopping 24% increase in performance.
That's not all: the new bimmer also flaunts an upgraded dual-circuit cooling system, which helps as this M4 just got boosted with so much power, making it best for adrenaline track driving.
Thanks to the two significant upgrades under its hood, it now goes up to 534 horsepower. Not to mention that its peak torque is at 479 pound-feet.
The 40 horsepower of the CLS is way higher than the Competition version, but it gets the same maximum torque performance.
However, it is worth noting that BMW slashed massive amounts of weight from the latest iteration of the M4. As a result, the renowned automaker boasts that the CLS performs 60 miles per hour (mph) in merely 3.6 seconds.
It should be pointed out that the CLS bested the Competition by a few milliseconds from its 3.8 seconds results.
