AirPods Cleansing Instructions by Apple

It is important to remember never to run AirPods or AirPods Pro under water. Apple reminds users to use a soft, dry, lint-free cloth.

If your AirPods or AirPods Pro are exposed to anything that might cause stains or other damage, for example, soaps, shampoos, conditioners, lotions, perfumes, solvents, detergent, acids or acidic foods, insect repellent, sunscreen, oil, or hair dye: wipe them clean with a cloth slightly dampened with fresh water and dry with a soft, dry, lint-free cloth.

Do not immediately put them back in the charging case. Allow them to completely dry first before placing back in the charging case. And remember never to attempt to use them until they're completely dry.

While cleaning your AirPods, make sure not to get any liquid in the openings. Use a dry cotton swab in cleaning the microphone and speaker meshes. Remember not to use sharp objects or abrasive materials to clean your AirPods or AirPods Pro.

Clean the case of your AirPods or AirPods Pro. Use a soft, dry, lint-free cloth in cleaning the charging case. You can slightly dampen the cloth with isopropyl alcohol, if necessary.

After cleaning the charging case, allow it to dry. Make sure not to get any liquid in the charging ports.

Clean also the ear tips of your AirPods Pro. If any water has accumulated in the ear tip, tap the AirPod on a soft, dry, lint-free cloth with the ear tip opening facing downward to remove the water.

Life Hacks on Removing Wax and Dirt Out of the Mesh

If you are looking for a better way to get the wax and dirt out of the mesh and hollow of the speakers, here's a hack.

A CNET article said that it involved two items you can find your house: Fun-Tak and wooden toothpicks

According to CNET, to remove the wax and dirt that's stuck inside the hollow of your AirPod speakers, just grab a small piece of Fun-Tak and stretch and knead it a bit to warm it up. Afterwards, press it against the speaker a few times and it'll pick up the wax and dirt.

You can use the wooden toothpick to gently remove the stubborn bits that are struck to the sides of the speaker hollow since a wooden toothpick is pointy enough to pick out individual specs of gross, waxy dirt.

A wooden toothpick is also much safer than a sharp metal object that can possibly scratch the plastic or tear the wire speaker mesh.
