Nokia Lumia 1020 fans in the UK will be happy to know that the 41-megapixel smartphone has appeared in Carphone Warehouse's inventory.
The smartphone has been released as an exclusive to AT&T in the U.S., likely replacing the Lumia 920 as the carrier's flagship Windows Phone 8 handset. The Lumia 1020's main attraction is its camera, a 41-megapixel PureView shooter with Carl Zeiss lens to be exact. The company is banking on the impressive camera as a defining feature when consumers are looking to upgrade their smartphone. The camera has been highly praised as being the best in any smartphone. Lumia 1020 fans in the UK will be happy to know a release day is near.
Windows Phone Central is reporting that it has received a Nokia Lumia 1020 tip in the form of a screenshot from Carphone Warehouse's inventory database, which now includes the Nokia Lumia 1020 in all three colors AT&T has to offer: yellow, black, and white. The image also shows the part number corresponding to each model. The screenshot does not reveal any kind of pricing. The site points out that it shouldn't be too long of a wait, since Carphone Warehouse is currently running a promotion asking about customers' interest in the Nokia Lumia 1020. The smartphone sold out of initial pre-order sales when AT&T made it available, but some reports are claiming that sales have been slow.
The Nokia Lumia 1020 features a 4.5-inch ClearBlack AMOLED PureMotion HD+ display with a 1280 x 768 resolution and a pixel density of 334 pixels per inch (ppi). It also includes a special sunlight readability enhancement and support for wide viewing angles. The handset runs Windows Phone 8 with the Nokia Lumia Amber update pre-installed, it is powered by a 1.5GHz dual-core processor, has 32GB of internal storage and 2GB of RAM. The very high-end and powerful 41-megapixel Pureview rear camera with Carl Zeiss optics also boasts optical image stabilization (OIS), Xenon flash and full HD 1080p video recording. The smartphone also includes a 1.2-megapixel front facing camera. In terms of wireless capabilities, it features a 4G LTE radio, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS, and NFC. Nokia ships the 1020 with a non-removable 2,000mAh battery.
