Blizzard announced the release of the Overwatch 2 on October 4. From being a paid, premium game, it will be a free-to-play game. But it won't come with randomized loot boxes like the original Overwatch have.
The Overwatch 2 will instead have a seasonal model. It will be supported by "battle passes and an in-game store, through which players can purchase cosmetic items outright with real-world money," as per Polygon report.
With the new game, you can team up with friends and enjoy the reimagined 5-vs-5 gameplay. There will be daily challenges and frequent updates available.
What to Expect in 'Overwatch 2'?
When the game arrives on October 4, season 1 of Overwatch 2 will be launched. Expect new heroes at the launch including Sojourn, Junker Queen, and a new unannounced support hero. They will be added to the roster of heroes.
Expect also six new maps, new game mode Push, and more than 30 new skins. After nine weeks, season 2 will be released on December 6. In season 2, expect a new tank-class hero, a new map, and dozens of additional skins.
New types of cosmetics are also expected to be introduced in Overwatch 2. This will include customizable new Mythic-tier skins. Players can also equip their weapons with charms.
According to Blizzard, the content of Overwatch 2 will continue to roll out in 2023. Every nine weeks there will be new seasons and more new heroes. There will actually be one new hero every other season. In addition, there will be new maps, modes, and skins.
According to Polygon, "next year will also see the arrival of Overwatch 2's long-promised PvE missions." However, during the livestream on Thursday, Blizzard did not talk about any new details about PvE.
Overwatch 2 will be available in Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X. Cross-platform play and cross-progression across all platforms will also be available.

New Challenges Await Players in 'Overwatch 2'
Expect all-new content and cosmetics in Overwatch 2. Players will be challenged with the new heroes that will be introduced for each role.
With the new maps it will be a true globetrotting experience for players. In addition, there's a steady supply of fresh ways to play with the new modes.
The new Battle Pass system will allow you to unlock themed cosmetic items. You'll also be able to complete weekly challenges for rewards. Throughout each season, "you'll be able to choose how you want to invest and progress toward new content throughout," according to Nintendo.
Furthermore, according to Qui Fang, the lead character concept artist, there will be characters that gamers have never seen before nor heard before.
"We're still working on new characters for the next year, year-and-a-half down the line as well. There's characters that folks have already seen glimpses of in the story, and there's also characters that you've never seen before, never heard about," Fang said.
Overwatch 2 is after a new and more aggressive playstyle, and Goodman is designing characters. This time, Goodman said that they won't be focusing on shields.
