The Nokia Lumia 1020 has become a bit more affordable, as retailer Amazon is now offering the AT&T exclusive smartphone for a $50 discount.
The Lumia 1020 usually retails for $299.99 on a two-year contract with AT&T, but thanks to the Amazon deal you can now grab the smartphone for $249.99 instead.
Nokia launched the much-awaited Windows Phone 8 (WP8)-powered Lumia 1020 earlier in July this year and the smartphone boasts a whopping 41-megapixel primary camera, which is touted as one of the best in the business. The camera supports LED and Xenon flash, as well as Optical Image Stabilization (OIS). It also packs in the Carl Zeiss lens.
The top-of-the-line Nokia Lumia 1020 is currently the most expensive WP8 smartphone available in the US. Moreover, after the 64GB iPhone 5 (which retails for $399.99 on a two-year contract on AT&T), the Lumia 1020 (32GB) is the second-most expensive smartphone in the carrier's portfolio of devices.
While the 4.5-inch smartphone houses impressive features, priced at $299.99 on a two-year contract the Lumia 1020 is seen as expensive by many consumers. By contrast, most flagship smartphones cost $199.99 on a two-year contract. However, the steep pricing of the smartphone has not dampened its popularity as pre-orders of the Lumia 1020 were sold out within two days.
Now with Amazon sweetening the deal and offering the Lumia 1020 at a discounted price, prospective consumers may be tempted to purchase the smartphone for $50 less than they would normally pay if they bought it from AT&T.
The retailer was previously offering the Lumia 1020 in late July for $269.99 and has now slashed the price even further to lure more buyers.
At this juncture it is not known if the Amazon offer for the AT&T exclusive Lumia 1020 is for a limited period or how long the deal will last. The $249.99 price on a two-year contract is valid for both new and existing AT&T customers who want to upgrade.
Amazon has the 32GB variant of the Lumia 1020 up for grabs in three hues: white, black, or yellow color options. The 64GB variant of the smartphone is still notably missing from AT&T.
