The Nokia Lumia 920 on Rogers has started receiving the Amber update, which is expected to bring various improvements and new features to the handset.
The Windows Phone GDR2 software update along with Nokia's Amber update have started rolling out to various Nokia Lumia models in the U.S. However, the Rogers Lumia 920 will be the first Nokia WP8 handset to receive the Amber update in Canada.
The Rogers Lumia 920 Amber update will bring software version 3047.0000.1326.2001 to the handset. The North America availability log for the Amber update in Canada shows other Lumia devices including the Lumia 620 and the Lumia 520 are still "waiting for approval." Hopefully, the Amber update will arrive on other Lumia handsets as soon as possible.
The Amber update for Lumia 920 comes in line with the company's recent announcement. The company announced that the Amber-enabled Lumia 925 will debut in the Taiwanese market from Aug. 16 and the company will start rolling out the software update in late August or early September.
"The first wave may be the first priority in Lumia 920, but after the rest of the WP8 Lumia models will another update that contains Lumia 820,720,620 and 520, but not necessarily in order," says an ePrice report.
Nokia's Amber update will bring along features such as the Smart Camera app, Glance Screen, IS support for speeds up to 3200, faster burst shots, superior color etc. Following the update the Lumia 920 owners will also get call blocking feature, flip to silence and stereo recording capabilities.

The Lumia 925 and the Lumia 928 are just a minor upgrade from the Lumia 920 and the handsets are still to arrive in Canada. Many Lumia 920 owners would be currently tied to a three-year contract with Rogers. As such, these customers will be eagerly waiting to receive the update as soon as possible.
