Rumors pertaining to the impending HTC Zara have been surfacing online for sometime now and now word on the street is that the smartphone will be called Desire 601.
The latest information is courtesy of well-known leakster @evleaks who has disclosed the product name of the upcoming HTC smartphone via Twitter.
"HTC Zara will ship as the Desire 601," reads @evleaks' tweet, without disclosing any more information.
In July this year, @evleaks leaked the specs and an alleged image of the mid-range HTC Zara, now reportedly called Desire 601.
"HTC Zara is supposedly a mashup of the One and Desire families," tweeted @evleaks in late July.
The Desire 601 is expected to be the successor of the Desire 600. According to previous rumors, the HTC smartphone will tout a 4.5-inch qHD screen with 540 x 960 pixels resolution.
Under the hood, the smartphone is expected to house a dual-core Qualcomm 400 processor and 1GB of RAM. The Desire 601 is also rumored to pack an 8-megapixel primary camera and 8GB of on-board memory (along with the option to expand via a microSD card). It will also likely come pre-loaded with Android 4.3 Jelly Bean and run HTC's UI Sense 5.5 on top. The device is rumored to have a 2100mAh battery.
While HTC is riding high on the popularity of its flagship HTC One, the Taiwanese company is not resting on its laurels and is also expected to unleash several mid-range handsets in Q4 this year, including the much-anticipated HTC One Max phablet.
Rumors have been rife that HTC is also prepping to release a smaller variant of the HTC Desire 600 called the HTC Zara Mini. This handset is expected to feature a 4-inch display, 1GB of RAM, 8GB of on-board storage and a 5-megapixel primary camera, as well as a 1.3-megapixel secondary camera.
Additionally, the hotly-anticipated 5.9-inch HTC One Max phablet, which will purportedly have a fingerprint scanner, is also expected to make an appearance soon.
All three HTC smartphones (HTC Desire 601, HTC Zara Mini and HTC One Max) are speculated to be introduced at the IFA event in a few days from now. It remains to be seen if HTC will indeed call the upcoming mid-range smartphone HTC Zara or HTC Desire 601.
