Sony has dropped a bombshell of a trailer and DualSense controller to boot.
The popular tech giant has recently revealed the story trailer for the next installment of its God of War series, the much-awaited God of War: Ragnarok, during its latest State of Play event.
Sony also revealed a limited edition PlayStation 5 DualSense controller sporting a God of War: Ragnarok-inspired design.
God Of War: Ragnarok Sony State Of Play Reveal Details
Sony Santa Monica Studio Lead Community Manager Grace Orlady mentioned in a PlayStation Blog post that Sony has finally revealed a story trailer for God of War: Ragnarok with only less than two months left before the game's exclusive release on the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5.
The trailer showcases the father-son duo on their quest on their search for Tyr, the Norse god of war, law, and honor. Along the way, they encounter new and familiar faces, such as the Vanir goddess Freya and the Aesir god of thunder, Thor. In the upcoming game, Freya now opposes Kratos and Atreus' efforts due to the events that happened in the first game, while Thor seems to be on a similar path as well.
Tyr, who dwarfs even Kratos in stature, will also make an appearance in the game and will play a critical role during the events of God of War: Ragnarok, per Eurogamer.
Since Freya is the leader of the valkyries, players can also expect to encounter more of them than in the 2018 God of War game. However, it is unclear if a certain side quest in the 2018 game would affect or at least be referenced during the events of God of War: Ragnarok.
We also see Atreus try out a newfound power for the first time, though the trailer doesn't offer much regarding what form it will take.
We also get to see a wolf that seems to be Fenrir, the infamous child of Loki, and the giantess Angrboða, during the story trailer. From what can be observed in the game, the wolf that seems to be Fenrir could be considered an ally to Kratos and Atreus.

Interestingly, the story trailer speaks of Kratos and Atreus being at a crossroads: they could either choose to be bound by fate or "do what is necessary" and make their own destinies.
Kratos even said that "fate only binds you if you let it. Do what is necessary not because it is written..."
Sony also wrote that Atreus hungers for knowledge to help him understand the prophecy of "Loki," which he and his father discovered during the events of the 2018 game.
Kratos has his own dilemma too, according to the tech giant. The former Greek god of war is also struggling to free himself from the past and be the father Atreus needs.
God Of War: Ragnarok-Inspired DualSense Controller Details
Aside from God of War: Ragnarok's story trailer, Sony also revealed that it would be releasing a limited edition DualSense controller with a design inspired by the game.
This DualSense controller sports a two-tone, clue blue on icy white combination inspired by the Norse world of Midgard, which is embellished with a bear and wold insignia symbolizing Atreus and Kratos.
Gamers who wish to get their hands on this controller can pre-order it on Sept. 27, with it becoming available for sale on Nov. 9.
