Early adopters of the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max have reported experiencing uncontrollable shaking in the main lens of the rear camera when using third-party apps with camera functions. According to reports, videos taken from apps like Snapchat, TikTok, and Instagram are too unstable and unusable.
Neither the extent of the issue nor its root cause are known as of writing time.
iPhone 14 Pro Models Are Having Camera Problems
The camera in third-party apps is having issues recording video, according to owners of the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Max. Particularly, the devices allegedly result in shaky and blurry video.
When using apps like Instagram, Snapchat, and TikTok, several users have noticed that the camera module shakes. When using the third-party app's camera functions, some users report they can see and hear the shaking and mechanical movement, according to a news story by Appleinsider.
There are several jitters, which are allegedly caused by the optical image stabilization (OIS) technology. This problem has been reported by users across Twitter, Reddit, TikTok.
Difference Between iPhone 14 Pro Camera Compared to Other iPhone 14 Models
The iPhone 14 Pro's camera is different compared to other iPhone models. Per Appleinsider, Apple's second-generation Sensor Shift optical image stabilization (OIS), which physically moves the sensor, is installed in the 48MP Main camera. Others, on the other hand, use a more traditional and outdated OIS technology.
A 48-megapixel sensor and an Action Mode to produce dynamic video are just two of the camera improvements made by Apple to the iPhone 14 Pro models.
Built-In Camera App Has No Issues
However, it appears that the camera issue is only present in third-party applications. The built-in Camera app in iOS 16 appears to be unaffected by the issue because it is still producing excellent video.
This can be a sign that the apps' interaction with the camera module needs to be improved because of a software issue. It is still unclear when Apple will fix the camera problem.
