Discord is offering a more affordable plan. According to Engadget, if the $9.99 Nitro subscription or the Premium Membership is too pricey for you, you can avail the $2.99 Nitro Basic Plan.
Beginning October 20, Discord will offer the Nitro Basic Plan. This new lower-priced plan will have some of the really good features of Nitro.
Features of the Nitro Basic Plans
Discord is introducing a lower tier Nitro subscription plans. With this, users, who cannot afford the expensive Premium membership, can take advantage of the $2.99 per month Basic Plan.
Among the features of the Basic Plan are the custom emojis, custom stickers, Nitro badge, custom video backgrounds, and up to 50MB file sharing.
Unfortunately, the HD streaming with 60fps and 4K video quality is only offered for the $9.99 Nitro subscription.
However, the Basic Plan is already an excellent choice if what you want is to upload short videos. Likewise, it might be useful if you want to showcase emoji using a streamer's server.
According to Android Central, now that Discord is launching Nitro Basic Plan, the Nitro Classic will be discontinued.
Users can expect the new subscription plan to roll out in the coming weeks starting October 20.
To check if the new lower tier plan is already available, users can simply go to User Settings then to Nitro.
Meanwhile, to check the price of Nitro Basic Plan in other countries, users will have to wait for its availability.
Discord's move in introducing Nitro Basic Plan aims to bring in more subscribers. But more than this, it aims to "foster an app ecosystem that ultimately bolsters the company's bottom line," as per Engadget.
Discord Introduces A New Feature Called "Activities"
In addition to the new Nitro Basic Plan, Discord is also introducing a new feature called "Activities."
People who always play a game with each other will be able to have some quality time with this new feature. They can watch some chill videos or even interact while playing some casual Discord-provided games.
According to the company, they will be adding a new rocket ship icon, which represent the Activities tab. The said icon will appear for desktop users besides the share screen button.
As Discord prepares the roll out of the new feature, the icon will become available to all users this week.
"Watch Together" is one of the first features that will arrive in Discord. Users in a Voice channel should be able to easily put a YouTube video. Everyone in that channel should be able to watch it at the same time.
Another feature in the new Activities tab is "Putt Party," which is a casual mini-golf game.
Discord Nitro subscribers can also access other games such as Poker Night, Sketch Heads, Chess in the Park, Checkers in the Park, Land-io, Letter League, and Blazing 8s.
Currently, Discord can be considered as one of the most famous streaming platforms in the world. It is unique since it brings integration games and communication into one. Since its launch in 2015, Discord showed a lot of growth in the past years.
