If you own the Windows Phone 8-powered Nokia Lumia 620 and are in Canada you might be interested in TELUS' new update.
The much-awaited Amber update from the Finnish company, which builds on Microsoft's General Distribution Release 2 (GDR2), is now available for download for Canadian users on carrier TELUS.
The update will be to version 3046.0000.1329.2001 and is set to bring several improvements, including camera enhancements
"Nokia Lumia 620 users on the TELUS network have a reason to tap that 'Update' button this morning. The 'Lumia Amber' update to version 3046.0000.1329.2001, which brings considerable improvements to performance, camera quality and bandwidth conversation, is now live," reports MobileSyrup.
Recently, we reported that the Amber update for the TELUS variant of the Lumia 620 has been approved and was undergoing final pre-release checks. Nokia had listed the WP8 version 1030.6407.1308.0001 as "coming soon" for TELUS on its website.
The update was expected to roll out in a couple of days and, true to its promise, Nokia has now started pushing out the Amber update for the TELUS variant of the Lumia 620.
Nokia's Amber update is set to bring features such as the Smart Camera app, faster burst shots, superior color and much more. Lumia 620 owners can also look forward to handy features such as call blocking and flip to silence.
However, the Lumia 620 will skip some notable features such as FM Radio, as well as Double tap to unlock post the Amber update. This was confirmed by Nokia in August, as the model does not support the necessary hardware.
If you own the Koodo variant of the Lumia 620, meanwhile, you will have to wait a bit longer for the update to hit your smartphone, as it is still "waiting for approval," which basically implies that it's still undergoing final testing.
To check if your Lumia 620 has received the Amber update go to Settings > About Device > More information/Firmware revision number. Do remember that when the update is available for download you will get a notification.
