Nokia fans in India will soon be able to purchase the hottest Windows Phone 8-powered handset around, the Lumia 1020.
E-retailer Flipkart has listed the top-end smartphone as "coming soon." The Lumia 1020, which is touted for its colossal 41-megapixel camera, has already gone up for sale in Germany and consumers in the UK are expected to get the smartphone by Sept. 25.
The smartphone, which was initially exclusive to carrier AT&T in the U.S., is already available in the region.
Flipkart, however, is offering the 32GB variant of the Lumia 1020 and has a "notify me" page for those who wish to sign-up to receive information on when the WP8-powered smartphone will be available. The 64GB variant of the Lumia 1020 is set to be exclusive to Indian carrier Vodafone.
Those interested have the option to purchase the Lumia 1020 from Flipkart in white, black or yellow when the smartphone becomes available.
In August, online retailer eBay had listed the Lumia 1020 and it was up for grabs for a whopping Rs. 51,847 (approximately $835).
Additionally, retailer Saholic also has the Lumia 1020 listed as "coming soon". However, like Flipkart, Saholic does not disclose the exact arrival date of the handset nor the price. The Nokia India website too has a notification page for the availability of the Lumia 1020.
One of the main draws of the Lumia 1020 is the rear-facing 41-megapixel PureView camera, which packs in LED and Xenon flash, as well as Optical Image Stabilization (OIS). The smartphone also has a 1.2-megapixel secondary camera.
Back in August, however, reports suggested that the much-touted 41-megapixel camera of the new Nokia Lumia 1020 was encountering white balance issues.
The Nokia Lumia 1020 sports a 4.5-inch AMOLED PureMotion HD+ display with 1,280 x 768 pixels resolution (pixel density of 332 ppi). Under the hood, it houses a 1.5-GHz, dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor, Adreno 225 GPU and 2GB of RAM. The Lumia 1020 also has a 2,000mAh battery and the smartphone is available in 32GB and 64GB on-board storage options.

If the smartphone is priced steeply as the eBay listing suggested, then it could lose out on consumers as the latest iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C from Apple are also expected to hit the shelves in September and will likely be priced attractively.
