Apple Makes Apple Fitness Plus Available to All iPhone Users

Starting October 24, Apple users will get the most out of their workouts with the upgrade that makes Apple Fitness Plus available on iOS 16.1.

The company's fitness and wellness service is welcoming iPhone users to the trend, even if they do not have an Apple Watch.

iPhones Are Welcoming Apple Fitness Plus

Since the fitness service launched two years ago, Apple Fitness Plus has introduced over 3,000 workout classes and meditation for those who use the Apple Watch.

However, along with the release of iOS 16.1 on Thursday, not only will additional features be available to users worldwide, but the service is expanding to a new set of audience as well.

CNet writes that customers can now subscribe to Apple Fitness Plus if they have an iPhone as old as the iPhone 8 and the latest iOS to get these new offerings.

With iOS 16.1, Fitness Plus will be fully integrated into the fitness app where users can access their workouts with personalized real-time metrics, Apple Newsroom says.

The update will also allow users to run their workouts on compatible third-party devices using AirPlay, to stream workouts and view their metrics.

According to Tom's Guide, the fitness app will also show users their Move ring on the screen which shows how many calories have been burned based on the users' height and weight.

"We built Fitness+ to be the most inclusive and welcoming fitness service in the world, and the response from our users has been overwhelmingly positive," Apple says in a press release.

A New Collection Will Be Introduced To Users

With the latest update, Apple Fitness Plus is coming in with three new themed collections for workouts, including Totally 80's Cycling, Best Mindful Cooldowns, and 14-Day Challenges.

These will be joining other popular collections in the fitness app like Pilates for More Than Your Core, Run Your First 5K, and Get into a Groove with Dance, according to CNet.

However, Apple Newsroom says that new programs such as Yoga for Every Runner and Time to Walk will also be available to those who subscribe to Apple Fitness Plus

Yoga for Every Runner with trainer Scott Jurek is inspired by the integration of yoga in cross-training programs essential to runners.

This will help runners improve their running posture, balance, and mobility through a 10-minute yoga flow warmup, recovery stretch, and mixed workouts.

Meanwhile, Time to Walk with Hannah Waddingham will provide users with an inspiring audio experience on iPhone and Apple Watch.

This program aims to help users to walk more often by featuring the stories, photos, and music of renowned artists with Fitness Plus users.

According to iMore, Taylor Swift will be the next dedicated Artist Spotlight feature in the app, with new songs from her new Midnights album released today.

Finally, Apple notes that people can also pick up Fitness Plus subscription special offers from SilverSneakers, Target, UnitedHealthcare, and Mobile Health for free.

Users can get a subscription to Apple Fitness Plus for as low as $10 per month or $80 a year, which can be shared with up to five other members of their families.
