Following its release in Korea back in July and the launch in China in September, Samsung is rolling out Maintenance Mode for global users today.
Starting today, the company is making the Maintenance Mode available to Galaxy device users worldwide who run their phones on One UI 5 systems and Android 13, Engadget reports.
Maintenance Mode Is Ready For World Debut
After its success in Korea, Samsung is now launching Maintenance Mode to Galaxy devices globally to help users protect sensitive data when their phones are handed over at service centers.
This privacy feature aims to relieve customers' anxiety that somebody can access and duplicate their personal data when sending their devices in for repair.
"Our whole lives are on our phones, from credit card information to family photos, and with Maintenance Mode, we are giving extra reassurance that Galaxy users can keep their privacy," Samsung says.
According to Seungwon Shin, VP and Head of Security Team at Samsung Business, Maintenance Mode is part of their constant effort to make people safe and in control.
Samsung Newsroom details that this feature allows users to have new mobile experiences with peace of mind, as it operates core functions without granting access to any private information.
Maintenance Mode allows users to create multiple accounts on their devices to allow users to keep their data safe, which can be activated in the Settings menu.
Engadget writes that users can enable the feature by going to the Battery and Device Care section in Settings, and rebooting their phones afterward.
Meanwhile, Sam Mobile says that Maintenance Mode can be switched off by dragging down the notifications panel and clicking the mode's alert to restart the phone and resume normal operation.
However, Bleeping Computer writes that Samsung still recommends backing up valuable personal data to ensure that users can recover them if the component fails during repair servicing.
Maintenance Mode Is Protected By Defense-Grade Security
Samsung's Maintenance Mode is an open collaboration with trusted industry partners like Knox, a defense-grade security platform with a multi-layered approach to safety and protection.
With this, any threat to the device and the users' data can be discovered immediately and neutralized quickly, Samsung Newsroom writes.
Samsung integrates its devices with hardware and software security that covers all areas of the devices, including internal chips and app downloads.
The company ensures that the privacy of users is its top priority by putting industry-leading safeguards in place, which are constantly enforced by Samsung.
In 2021, Samsung launched Knox Vault, which allows users to isolate the most critical information they provide the company from the rest of their devices.
This month, along with Maintenance Mode, Samsung revealed Knox Matrix to fulfill its vision for the next level of security across multiple devices for Samsung Galaxy phones.
As part of the company's commitment to customers' secure and private experiences, Maintenance Mode will launch gradually globally over the next few months and throughout 2023.
