Microsoft has released the Windows 11 22H2 KB5018496 preview with almost 30 fixes and improvements, including a feature that lets users launch Task Manager with a shortcut.
According to Bleeping Computer, this rollout is part of Microsoft's monthly update for October 2022 which allows them to test the upcoming fixes for next month.
The Update Comes With A Handful Of Improvements
Microsoft just released the Windows 11 22H2 KB5018496 preview, and it includes a long list of general improvements and notable changes for Microsoft users.
This is the second big update for Windows 11 22H2, but it is an optional cumulative update that installers can get through download links or offline installers in its Update Catalog.
This update improves the Microsoft Account experience in Settings, as well as the backup experience when the Microsoft Account is used.
Through the improvements to the Microsoft Account experience in Settings, users can now manage their Microsoft OneDrive subscription and other related storage alerts.
This feature has allegedly been tested for a while now in Microsoft's effort to integrate its online services with Settings that started with Xbox.
According to Windows Central, it enhances the visual search treatments on the taskbar to improve discoverability and adds the Task Menu to the context menu when right-clicked.
It also includes enhancements for the Windows Search's visual treatments on the taskbar to help users discover more content, such as weather or global and local updates, Windows Latest says.
Windows users can choose to install the Windows 11 22H2 KB5018496 update by going to the device's Settings, clicking on Windows Update, and selecting Check for Updates.
After this, users will need to reboot the system to finish installing the changes, which will take anywhere between three to eight minutes to get done.
Windows 11 Preview Update Also Sees A Long List Bug Fixes
The new Windows 11 update provides a comprehensive list of developments that help give users a better experience.
However, while the preview updates do not include any security fixes, it addresses and provides bug fixes for other areas of improvement.
Windows Latest says that the update fixes an issue where Microsoft Edge would not work in IE Mode, and one blocks credential UI from displaying in IE Mode.
Furthermore, the new update also fixes the audio syncing feature in the gameplay recorded using the Xbox Game Bar.
Additionally, it addresses the issue that affects File Explorer which makes it less dependable when browsing for Microsoft OneDrive folders.
The Start Menu issue is also addressed by the fix, which solves the problem of it not working when users use the keyboard commands to move their pinned items to a folder at the end of a list.
However, the update failed to address the two notable issues known in Windows 11, which are provisioning packages not working as expected and performance issues when copying large files.
Should users want to try the new Windows 11 22H2 KB5018496 update, they can access it through the Release Channel of Windows Update or the Microsoft Update Catalog here.
