Gamers on Reddit Name the Underappreciated Video Games They Believe Deserve a Sequel

Many video games just come and go, but there are those that make their mark no matter how underrated or underappreciated they are. Some of these underrated or underappreciated video games are even loved by so many that people do wait for a sequel that has not come at all.

Gamers have been sharing the underappreciated video games they believe deserve at least a sequel on the r/gaming subreddit. These are some of the video games that have been named in the thread:

Black

Release in 2006, Black is a first-person shooter game published by Electronic Arts (EA) and released for the PlayStation 2 and Xbox. The story of the game follows a black ops agent named Jack Kellar, who is in the midst of an interrogation regarding previous mission he took part of.

According to Reddit user Thr33Knuckl3sD33p, "It was one of the most engaging and challenging FPS of its time, and still is to me."

Enslaved: Odyssey to the West

Developed by Ninja Theory and published by Bandai Namco, Enslaved: Odyssey to the West was released in 2010 and was playable on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. The game is set in a post-apocalyptic world and follows the story of Monkey, whose has no choice but to escort another character home after they survive a ship crash.

Unlike some of the games on this list, there initially was plans to do a sequel for this game. However, Kotaku notes in its report that Ninja Theory decided not to pursue a sequel anymore.

Jade Empire

Released as an Xbox exclusive, Jade Empire was released in 2005. The action role-playing game (RPG) is set in a world that draws heavy inspiration from Chinese mythology. The player takes on the role of the last surviving Spirit Monk whose goal is to defeat a corrupt emperor.

Reddit user Hot_Marionberry_4685 describes the game as "absolutely beautiful and had one of the best soundtracks I had ever heard at that point."

Lost Odyssey

Lost Odyssey is a Japanese RPG game for the Xbox 360 that was initially released in Japan in 2007 before it was released a year later in other markets. The player takes on the role of Kaim, an immortal who lost his memories. The game follows his journey as he tries to gain back his memories while dealing with other threats.

A number of Redditors in the subreddit have said that the game is one of their absolute favories. Reddit user Firvulag even went as far as to say it is "one of the greatest JRPG's of all time straight up."

The Saboteur

A game playable on the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and Microsoft Windows, The Saboteur was released in 2009 and published by Electronic Arts.

Set in German-occupied France during World War II, the story of the game follows a race car driver and mechanic who ends up joining the French Resistance after his best friend is killed by the Nazis. Here is a little fun fact: the character, Sean Devlin, is based on William Grover-Williams' story.
