The next Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines game could very well be ready by next year.
Paradox Interactive CEO Fredrik Wester recently revealed that there is still a possibility that Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2 will be released sometime in 2023.
The development for Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2 has had a rough road since Paradox Interactive announced the game in 2019, per Eurogamer.
Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2 Release Date Details
Wester mentioned in an interview with Nyhetsbyrån Direkt of Privata Affärer that Paradox Interactive may be able to set a launch date for the game "reasonably soon," and that it is "absolutely not impossible" for the company to release Bloodlines 2 sometime in 2023.
Wester added that the people in Paradox Interactive feel that the game is in very good hands, saying they are "incredibly satisfied" with what they've seen.
The owners of these hands refer to the game developer that replaced Hardsuit Labs - the game's original co-developer.
Wester added that Paradox has been quite cautious about announcing anything too advanced as it learned its lesson from the development problems of Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2, which was previously announced in 2019.
You may remember that the game has had a bumpy development since 2019, with Hardsuit Labs confirmed to have left its development on Feb. 23, 2021, as Paradox revealed in its latest development update.
The fact that there has been no update about the game's development since Feb. 23, 2021, speaks volumes about how turbulent the game's development is.
According to the update, the game has been an "ambitious project" from the very start, and for the game to meet Paradox's goals, a change and more development time are required.
As a result, the company won't be releasing anything until it is quite sure of an absolute launch date or at least a launch month.
Despite the turbulence, Paradox Interactive has reassured fans of the first game multiple times that the game is still being worked on, per Game Rant.
Nevertheless, Wester believes that the game will be released soon, and if it won't be in 2023, it is almost definitely going to be released sometime in 2024.
Having the game released in 2024 wouldn't be a far-off guess, as the first Bloodlines game, developed by Troika Games and published by Activision, was released on Nov. 16, 2004, per the game's Steam store page.
A Quick Summary Of Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2's History
Based on the updates released by Paradox Interactive about the game, Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2 was first announced on Mar. 21, 2019, to applause and bated anticipation. Paradox even released a gameplay trailer of the game on June 12, 2019 - a sign of the game's impending release.
Paradox then posted a dev blog post about the game on Oct. 16, 2019, saying that the game would need to be delayed to avoid the mistakes made during the development of the first game.
The game developer then announced on Aug. 19, 2020, that the game's lead narrative designer and creator director left the development team at Hardsuit Labs and the addition of Alexandre Mandryka of Assassin's Creed and Far Cry fame as a creative director.
However, Paradox missed its 2020 promise and announced in its Feb. 23, 2021 update that Hardsuit Labs is no longer working on the game, along with the announcement of another delay and the reassurance that Bloodlines 2 is still in development.
Paradox has been mum about the game's release date since.
