How to Install the Windows 10 KB5020030 Preview Update

The KB5020030 cumulative update preview is part of the November 2022 monthly "C" update of Microsoft.

The update allows admins to test fixes rolling out to all users with the December 2022 Patch Tuesday.

However, non-security preview releases like KB5020030 are not like Patch Tuesday updates because these are optional. Likewise, these kinds of releases do not include security updates.

According to Microsoft, to install this preview update, windows users can do the following steps:

  • Go to Settings.
  • Then, proceed to Windows Update.
  • Finally, click the Check for Updates button.

Since this is an optional update, it will not install automatically. You must manually install it by tapping on the "download and install" link. The update will only install automatically if your computer is on Windows Insider builds.

If you are a Windows 10 user, you also have the option to manually download KB5020030 preview update. Afterwards, you can install it from the Microsoft Update Catalog.

  • It fixed an issue that affected Microsoft Defender for Endpoint.

According to Microsoft, the latest preview update is the last one that will be released this 2022. There will be no other non-security releases to be made available this coming December.

According to Redmond, as per BleepingComputer, due to minimal operations during the holidays and the upcoming Western new year, no other non-security preview will be released in December 2022.

However, a monthly security release, known as a "B" release, will be available in December 2022. In January 2023, the normal monthly servicing for both B and C releases will resume.
