Donald Trump is not the only previously banned Twitter user who gets their account restored.
Kanye West, now legally known as Ye, recently got his Twitter account reinstated after almost two months of being banned on the platform for antisemitic statements.
You may remember that Ye was previously banned for declaring on Twitter he would go "death con 3" on Jewish people after he was criticized for wearing a "white lives matter" T-shirt during Paris fashion week, per BBC.
Kanye West Twitter Return Details
Following his Twitter account's restoration, Ye first sent a test tweet to see if his Twitter account was actually working, with him saying that he's "seeing if [his] Twitter [account] is unblocked."
He may have noticed that his Twitter account is back and actually working, as five hours later, he tweeted "Shalom," which means "peace" and "harmony" in English, with a happy face emoticon.
The intention for Ye's "Shalom" tweet is unclear, but considering his past tweets on Twitter before his lock-off, it wouldn't be surprising that it was taunting in nature.
The Big Twit himself, Elon Musk, also welcomed Ye back into the platform, with him replying with a modified quote that was popularized on "Star Wars: The Last Jedi."
In his tweet, Elon Musk said "Don't kill what ye hate, save what ye love."
It should be noted that the word "ye," when used in this context, means "you," according to the Cambridge Dictionary.
Ye's return to Twitter isn't as surprising as many would think. With the changing of the guard through Musk's purchase of the microblogging platform, some people who were previously banned like former US president Donald Trump got their Twitter accounts back.
However, Trump declined to use his newly restored Twitter account as he previously announced he had no plan to do so in a statement in late April, per CNBC.
This reluctance or refusal from Trump to use Twitter again is caused by a regulatory filing preventing him to post the content he posted on Truth Social to any other media site for six hours unlike it's for political reasons, like fundraising and messaging, per the NPR.
Unlike Trump, though, there's little or at least no known reason for Ye to stop using his Twitter account since he's already using it.
Ye's Acquisition Of Parler
It is unknown how the reinstatement of Ye's Twitter account would affect his future acquisition of Parler, the free speech platform that rose to prominence following the Capitol riots on Jan. 6, 2021.
You may remember that Parlement Technologies, the owner of Parler, mentioned that it had agreed in principle to sell Parler to Ye, who the company said is taking "a bold stance" against his recent censorship from Instagram and Twitter.
Parlement also said that it expects that Ye's acquisition of Parler will bring the social media platform into a future role in creating an "uncancelable ecosystem" where all voices are welcome.
