Google to Hold Event About Search, AI on Feb. 8 — Here's How to Watch

Google will hold an event that commits to sharing information about Search and AI on Feb. 8, says The Verge.

Google will be sharing its work in artificial intelligence via YouTube livestream next week, Feb. 8 at 8:30 a.m. ET. All you have to do is login to your YouTube account and wait for the stream to start.

In an email, Google said that the 40-minute event aims to enlighten the public about AI and its uses, "Using the power of AI to reimagine how people search for, explore and interact with information, making it more natural and intuitive than ever before to find what you need."

The invitation also contains references to Google Lens, Google Translate, Google Shopping, and Google Maps. The Verge assumes that the presentation will also include updates and improvements on these tools.

Artificial Intelligence

Artificial intelligence is the simulation of human intelligence. It is being processed by machines and computer systems. Some of its expertise include natural language processing, vision, and speech recognition. Meanwhile, its cognitive skills include learning, reasoning, and self-correction.

AI helps people in accomplishing their tasks the easy way. AI is there to help you look at your friends' photos, break down language barriers using translation, type emails and word suggestions, or help you get things done.

Google and Its AI Inventions

Google created a website called Google AI that specifically discusses its company's AI inventions. This is where users can browse their research and AI applications to products and new domains. Google's mission in creating this site is to set AI as a universally useful program that's accessible and easy to navigate.

Currently, Google offers AI like LaMDA or Language Model for Dialogue Applications that help build smaller chatbots. It also continuously works on its long-existing programs like Google Search, Google Translate, and Google Assistant.

Google Assistant is one of the company's profound creations. It is the counterpart of Amazon's Alexa and Apple's Siri. From the term itself, it functions as an assistant. All you have to do is say, "Hey Google," then continue to type your inquiry or request.

Google also built privacy controls to secure its users' private information. This is because AIs, like the rest of the applications that the public consumes, collect people's data and information. Their AI principles are coming from an ethical charter that guides the creation and usage of artificial intelligence.

Aside from security promises, Google also prides itself on taking responsible AI practices. It claims to follow general best practices for software systems. They claim to use human-centered design, as well as metrics for testing, training, and monitoring.

Creating an AI comes with a lot of responsibilities. That is why Google remains transparent in its review and operation processes. The assessment of proposals first includes intake or reviewing of frameworks. Second, there's an analysis where they examine the technology's potential benefits and harms. Third, there's adjustment wherein technical evaluations are being set. Then last, they arrive at a decision.

Other than Google, some platforms are also offering assistant tools to date. The list includes apps such as Robin, Hound, Bestee, and Amazon Alexa.
