Here's what you have to know about Netflix's decision to renew "The Night Agent" for a second season, as well as the statistics that may have contributed to the streaming platform's quick decision

'The Night Agent' Gets a Second Season

"The Night Agent" is getting another 10 episodes thanks to its renewal by Netflix, according to a report by Deadline. The report notes that, as previously mentioned, "This marks one of the fastest renewal decisions for Netflix, which typically waits for data on a series' 28-day performance before pulling the trigger."

Shawn Ryan, who serves as the series' creator, executive producer, as well as showrunner, has reacted to news.

To see the tremendous reaction to the show has been a great joy and is a credit to our cast, our writers, our directors, our crew and our partners at Sony Pictures Television and Netflix. We couldn't be any prouder or more excited to get cracking on Season 2 to share the further adventures of Night Action with our newfound fans

A separate report by Deadline points out that "The Night Agent" has the third-best premiere week of viewing for any Netflix Original series currently on its first season. A couple of days after its March 23 premiere, "The Night Agent" recorded 168.7 million viewing hours.

Aside from this, the conspiracy crime-thriller reached the Top 10 in a total of 93 countries.

'The Night Agent'

As previously mentioned, "The Night Agent" is based on a novel of the same name by Matthew Quirk. The story of the series focuses on a character named Peter Sutherland, who is an FBI agent in charge of the Night Action telephone. He finds himself in the center of a messy conspiracy when he is tasked to protect a cybersecurity specialist Rose Larkin.

Gabriel Basso and Luciane Buchanan lead the cast as Peter Sutherland and Rose Larkin, respectively. Fola Evans-Akingbola, Sarah Desjardins, Eve Harlow, Phoenix Raei, and Hong Chau are also part of the cast.

There is no word yet on when production for season two will begin or when it is expected to air. However, given that his character is the central character of the story, Gabriel Basso is already being expected to return for season two.
