Apple is reportedly working hard to develop new apps that will highlight the powerful 3D interface of the tech company's upcoming mixed reality headset. It is rumored that the Cupertino tech giant is focused on introducing sports, fitness and wellness apps for the AR/VR headset.
Apple's AR/VR Headset to Boast a Futuristic 3D Interface With New and Optimized Apps
According to Bloomberg's industry expert Mark Gurman, Apple is all set to launch the mixed reality headset at the Worldwide Developer's Conference (WWDC) in June. The device is expected to give users a nice blend of augmented reality and virtual reality. The headset will allow users to switch from AR to VR mode seamlessly.
Furthermore, the Apple mixed reality headset, which is currently dubbed "Reality One" or "Reality Pro," will be focused on gaming, sports, fitness and wellness apps, all of which should maximize the 3D experience offered by the headset.
Months before the anticipated unveiling of the Apple mixed reality headset, the Big tech is said to have been collaborating with "a small number of developers" to develop new apps for the device. Rumors suggest that Apple's currently existing apps such as Safari, Calendar, Contacts, Home, Files, Messages, Notes, Photos, Music and Reminders have undergone "slight modifications" to match the mixed reality headset's 3D interface.
Other built-in apps have been optimized as well for the device, allowing multiple apps to run at the same time. Furthermore, the Apple mixed reality headset is said to have a geolocation aspect to allow users to switch from one app to another when they transfer to a different room, MacRumors reported.
The Apple mixed reality headset is expected to become available months after the expected announcement of the device in June. This way, Apple and its partner developers will have ample time to create new apps and optimize the existing ones to fit the AR/VR headset's promise of a futuristic appeal.

How Fitness and Sports Apps Will Work in Apple's Mixed Reality Headset
MacRumors offered a glimpse of how the new sports and fitness apps will work using the AR/VR headset. For one, the so-called Fitness+ app will put users in a virtual workout space where they can perform different exercises together with a Fitness+ instructor. The health and wellness app could appear to guide users in their meditations while the headset provides a relaxing VR setting, complete with background sounds and voice-overs.
When it comes to sports apps, the AR/VR headset is likely to bring users to an immersive MLB and MLS virtual experience like they are watching the games live.
For Apple-designed apps, the mixed reality headset can be used to transform every conversation into a virtual meeting room. For example, FaceTime users can have Memoji-like avatars while attending a video conference.
The Apple mixed reality headset is likely to have a $3,000 price tag. While this is unusually expensive for a new launch, the company has reportedly been expecting already that the device will not achieve high sales for this reason.
