May 4 - one of the most significant dates "Star Wars" fans across the world have been eagerly anticipating. From announcements of new content to the franchise to the parties that have you cosplay as your favorite "Star Wars" character, the ways to celebrate May the Fourth are endless.
Playing games based on the popular franchise is another way to celebrate the franchise that told us a story from a Galaxy far, far away. Their interactivity and graphics let you feel like you're there even if you're not.
Here are some "Star Wars" games that can do that for you and more, even on the Revenge of the Fifth (May 5). May the Force be with you!
Star Wars Jedi Series (Fallen Order & Survivor)
Despite the latest entry's issues, EA's Star Wars Jedi series is one of the best Star Wars games out there to date. It is the first Star Wars action-adventure game after the next entry on the list; it features modern touches to make it different from it.
The game follows the life and story of Jedi padawan Cal Kestis, who has to survive being constantly on the run from the Empire either as a former Jedi padawan or as a freedom fighter or "terrorist," as the Empire wants him to be called.
The games are set during the early years of the Galactic Empire, so you may find some familiar faces along the way.
Star Wars: The Force Unleashed
One of the last few games Lucasarts developed and published in the late 2000s before Disney shut it down following Geroge Lucas selling the franchise to The Mouse, Star Wars: The Force Unleashed showcases a character that serves as a glimpse of what Luke Skywalker could have been if he joined Darth Vader on Bespin.
The game follows the story of Starkiller, a Sith assassin the Dark Lord of the Sith personally trained to hunt down the Empire's enemies, Jedi, and eventually the Emperor himself for Vader to fulfill the Sith Order's Rule of Two.
The game allows you to wield dark side powers from the start, along with some cool force powers and abilities that could make Starkiller strong enough to go toe-to-toe with the fallen Chosen One.
Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Series
If you're looking to play one of the best, if not the best "Star Wars" RPGs of all time, then consider getting the Knights of the Old Republic series. The games are set during the Old Republic Era when the Galactic Republic and the Sith vie for complete control of the known regions of the Galaxy.
The game features one of the most popular Sith Lords of the franchise, Darth Revan and Darth Malak, and a motley cast of characters and places that let you know more about how it feels to live during the time of the Old Republic.
Star Wars Battlefront 2 (Classic/EA Remake)
Single-player games are all well and good, but role-playing as one of the most iconic characters in the "Star Wars" franchise is something that just can't be beaten by anything else.
Star Wars Battlefront 2, both the EA and Lucasarts versions, put you on the frontlines of various battlefields during the Clone Wars and the Galactic Civil War as a nameless soldier, which could be a clone, droid, rebel soldier, or imperial stormtrooper. You could even fly starfighters in space and dogfight like Wedge Antilles, Anakin Skywalker, and Han Solo in space if you're so inclined.
The games feature a multiplayer mode that lets you go head-to-head with other players or friends if you're playing with them online. Doing well in the game allows you to control one of the heroes or villains of the "Star Wars" franchise for a limited time, so try to dominate your friends and enemies ASAP if you want to unleash unlimited power on them.
LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga
Last but not least is LEGO Star Wars, the kid-friendly and slightly condensed version of the Skywalker Movie Saga, including the Disney Sequel.
The game allows you to go through the franchise's entire Skywalker Saga (Episode 1 to Disney's Trilogy) as any of the characters featured in them, which may result in some unlikely but hilarious interactions.
Players can even pilot X-wings, the Millenium Falcon and even wrap AT-ATs with Snowspeeder tow cables.
Whatever combination or journey you wish to have, you can expect some unique scenes, interactions, and a hilarious retelling of the Skywalker Saga from the Galaxy Far, Far Away.
