Sony's new PlayStation Plus is now on its first anniversary.
The tech giant recently announced it is providing various activities and other new content to celebrate the first anniversary of its new PS Plus subscription service.
Sony decided to release a new version of its PS Plus subscription service to provide "high-quality, curated content and more choices for customers to enjoy wordwide" that matches its customers' preferences.
PS Plus First Anniversary Celebration Details
Sony mentioned in its PlayStation Blog post that it is offering ten days' worth of activities and new content to celebrate the first anniversary of its new PS Plus.
Let's start with the new content. According to Sony, it is testing cloud streaming for supported PlayStation 5 games that include PS5 titles from the PS Plus Game Catalog and Game Trials, along with supported digital PS5 titles that players, particularly PS Plus Premium subscribers, own.
Once the new cloud streaming feature gets released, PS Plus Premium subscribers can access cloud streaming directly on their PS5 console, making it easier for Premium subscribers to play their favorite games without downloading them first onto their PS5 console.
Sony promised it would eventually offer other PS5 titles in addition to PS3, PS4, and classic titles that are already available for Premium members to stream through cloud streaming.
As for the new content heading for PS Plus members, Sony mentioned that the following games will join the PlayStation Game Catalog next week:
- Far Cry 6 (PS4/PS5)
- Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder's Revenge (PS4/PS5)
- Rogue Legacy 2 (PS4/PS5)
- Inscryption (PS4/PS5)
- Soulstice (PS5)
- Tacoma (PS4)
- Deus Ex: Mankind Divided (PS4)
- Killing Floor 2 (PS4)
Interestingly, the Game Trial for WWE 2K23 will also be available on the PS Plus Game Catalog on June 20.
PS Plus Celebration Campaigns
Aside from these, Sonty also announced it is offering three exclusive digital collectible rings that PS Plus subscribers can earn through the campaigns the company will run from June 20 through June 30. PS Plus subscribers can earn these three rings by completing their requirements.
PS Plus subscribers can earn the PS Plus Celebration: Game Catalog digital ring if they play any of the recent Game Catalog additions Sony made, such as Assassin's Creed: The Ezio Collection, the Uncharted Legacy of Thieves Collection, and Final Fantasy VII Remake.
Meanwhile, the PS Plus Celebration: Classic Catalog is obtainable by launching the four games that match the hints provided once the campaign begins.
Lastly, PS Plus subscribers can earn the PS Plus Celebration: Game Trials digital ring if they play any one of the featured PlayStation Plus Game Trials, such as God of War Ragnarök, The Last of Us Part I, and Dying Light 2, or Stay Human.
PS Plus Celebration Activities For All PS Gamers
Meanwhile, PS gamers with or without a PS Plus Subscription can join in the celebration by answering five questions about the service on the PlayStation Plus website during the 10-day celebration to win a PS5 console and a PS VR2 headset with the PS VR2 Sense controller.
Sony is also allowing PS gamers to play online for free without requiring a PS Plus subscription during the celebration.
