Getting assistance from WhatsApp through its Windows app will soon become easier.
WhatsApp was recently spotted to be rolling out a feature for beta testers to try out that allows users of its Windows app to get in-app chat support directly from the official WhatsApp support without switching to email for assistance.
WhatsApp beta testers can now access this feature through WhatsApp beta for Windows 2.2322.1.0; it is not yet ready for an official public release.
WhatsApp Desktop In-app Chat Support Details
WhatsApp's Windows app is a handy way to communicate with people on your contacts without opening your phone if you're using a Windows computer. After installation and logging in by scanning a QR code, you can send and receive messages and calls through it, just like the phone app does.
However, many WhatsApp users noted that they must send emails to WhatsApp to request app support if they ever encounter a problem - an inconvenient solution for issues that sometimes require immediate attention. Fortunately, WhatsApp is starting to address this problem by adding in-app chat support to provide users with technical guidance directly from the official WhatsApp chat support to its mobile app.
Recently, WABetaInfo spotted WhatsApp doing the same again for its Windows App. As with the mobile apps, WhatsApp users have to email the company for support, but with the new, upcoming feature, users will get the guidance they need in-app without having to draft and send an email requesting the company for support.
According to the reports the publication received, WhatsApp beta testers would only need to install the latest update for Windows and select the "Contact us" option. Doing so will open an in-app pop-up window containing a message box users can type their concerns on and a checkbox to choose between providing their device's information to WhatsApp.
After sending their concern about the app, it will create a chat that connects directly to the official WhatsApp support, providing users with answers without leaving or closing the app. As such, users can save time and effort when telling WhatsApp about their concerns and issues with the app and engage in real-time conversations with the WhatsApp Support team.
However, the publication notes that users can still opt to email WhatsApp support if they want to do in case they don't want to get an answer right within a WhatsApp chat.
WhatsApp's Other New Features
While WhatsApp is still testing in-app support for its Windows app, it is working on other new features for WhatsApp users to enjoy in the foreseeable future. You may recall that WhatsApp is reportedly working on adding a multi-account feature and Meta Quest compatibility to its app, allowing users to connect multiple accounts to a single app and connect their account to a Meta Quest VR headset, respectively.
However, these are still under development; they will come to the app in a future update soon.
