Apple Plans to Sell Vision Pro via Appointment, May Require Face Scan

Apple Inc. is now setting the details on the retail launch of the Vision Pro headset in selected US markets for early 2024.

The device will first be available through appointments in New York and Los Angeles before bringing the headset to the UK, Canada, and other countries in Asia and Europe.

However, the $3,500 headset will not be available to third-party retailers until 2025.

Apple to Customize Vision Pro

Apple is currently planning to require customers to book an appointment prior to purchasing the Vision Pro.

Customers' heads will be measured to ensure that the Vision Pro headset size is fitted for them properly. Apple will also test various light seals to make sure that no light will penetrate while wearing the headset.

Prescription lenses will also be available for those customers in need.

How Vision Pro Works

Vision Pro was first introduced by Apple during the WWDC 2023 event last June.

The AR/VR headset is Apple's first spatial computer that "seamlessly blends digital content with the physical world, allowing users to stay present and connected to others."

The headset can function through the user's eyes, hands, and voice and will feature the world's first spatial operating system, visionOS.

"Built upon decades of Apple innovation, Vision Pro is years ahead and unlike anything created before - with a revolutionary new input system and thousands of groundbreaking innovations," Apple CEO Tim Cook stated during its launch.

"It unlocks incredible experiences for our users and exciting new opportunities for our developers," he added.
