Meta's new app Threads continues its surge by passing 100 million users in less than a week of its launch.
Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg shared the good news on Threads.
"Threads reached 100 million sign ups over the weekend. That's mostly organic demand and we haven't even turned on many promotions yet. Can't believe it's only been 5 days!" the CEO wrote.
Currently, the app still lacks several basic social media features. However, that did not stop people from hopping on the platform.
Threads Beats ChatGPT Record
The popular OpenAI ChatGPT reached its 100 million milestone two months after its launch, making it the fastest-growing consumer application back then.
Reuters reported that ChatGPT had an average of 13 million unique visitors per day last January.
However, Threads easily dethroned ChatGPT by achieving the milestone within five days only.
"I'm not sure I can wrap my mind around the fact. It's insane; I can't make sense of it," Instagram head Adam Mosseri shared on Threads.
What's Next for Threads
The Threads team has recently announced the Google Play Beta for the app which allows people to experience first the upcoming features.
Although the app is still new, Mosseri assured its users that they will live up to the feedback that the app is receiving.
"They say 'make it work, make it great, make it grow.' Well, we certainly did things out of order, but I promise we will make this thing great," Mosseri added.
