5 Key Factors to Consider When Buying a TV

Buying electronics can be complicated especially if you have a lot of choices that come with different features. It's essential to consider factors especially since you'll be using the TV for a while, and they're not cheap to just buy another one that suits your needs. Here are some factors that you should look into before purchasing.

1. Screen Size

The first thing you would want to do is decide how big your TV should be. For instance, if you plan on using it for your own theater room, then maybe you'd want a 70-inch screen. However, there are other things to consider. You actually need to measure your own space as well.

It would be a waste of time, money, and effort to try and set up a TV, only to realize that there's not enough space on your wall or entertainment system. Another important thing to consider is how close you will be to the TV. The farther you are, the bigger the screen you'll need.

2. Resolution

This one is a no-brainer, especially if you plan on buying a larger screen. Typically, more recently released models will provide you with three choices, Full HD, 4K, and 8K. Full HD will provide you with a 1920 x 1080 resolution, as mentioned in Tom's Guide.

Unfortunately, you might not be able to make the most out of 4K movies with it. It has a resolution of 3840 x 2160 pixels, which means you'll have a clearer output and more detail. If you want to go further, you can even opt for the 8K.

Right now, 8K is not the best option. Not only will it cost you more, but it will be useless since most content you'll find on streaming sites is capped at 4K. Maybe in the future, once movies are released in 8K, but for now, 4k is your best option.

3. Sound

TVs have a good enough sound system for you to enjoy watching movies and TV shows, but if you want to get the best experience with audio, you might want to include a soundbar with your purchase. Try to purchase a TV when there is a sale bundle that comes with one.

There are several soundbar options you can choose from, but it's best to purchase both your TV and speakers from the same brand. Chances are they will pair better and may even come with features that are only accessible when connected to their own brand.

4. Ports

You should pay attention to the ports that come with the TV you're about to buy, all while considering what devices you plan on connecting to it. While most models now have HDMI inputs, there are still those that don't have HDMI 2.1 ports.

HDMI 2.1 allows you to watch at 4k resolution without having to deal with latency issues, as pointed out by Wired. The number of ports will also depend on how many devices you plan to use. For instance, you'll need one for your console and another for your PC.

5. Smart or Standard

You'll probably see more Smart TV options than standard TVs that don't come with built-in Wi-Fi. It depends on what you'll be using the TV for, but mostly you're better off choosing a Smart TV since it gives you more uses for it.

Having a Smart TV will allow you to install streaming services. They are programmed to function well with the apps so you'll have icons to choose from as soon as you turn the device on. Although you should be careful which models you buy since some have limited app support.
