Intel is planning to ship its first consumer chip with a built-in neural processor for machine learning tasks, Meteor Lake, sometime this year.
In a report by The Verge, Intel previously mentioned that only premium new Ultra chips will have AI coprocessors, however, Intel CEO Pat Gelsinger has planned otherwise.
"Across every aspect of consumer, developer and enterprise efficiency use cases, we see that there's going to be a raft of AI enablement and those will be client-centered. Those will also be at the edge," Gelsinger stated.
Meteor Lake Rumored Features
Last March, a popular hardware leaker revealed the possible features of Meteor Lake.
This includes 20 PCIe Gen5 lanes and will be supported by Windows 12. However, both Intel and Microsoft commented on the rumor.
Microsoft has also been hinting the some plans for Windows 12 as the company leans more in integrating AI-powered features.
Meteor Lake Release Date
Intel has not yet announced a specific date to launch Meteor Lake. However, some are expecting that the 14th Gen CPUs will be released during the Intel Innovation 2023 event on September 19 to 20.
Most of the next generation CPUs are guessed to be part of Raptor Lake-S Refresh and not Meteor Lake.
Intel has recently forecasted that the third-quarter of 2023 will give the company a revenue of around $12.9 billion to $13.9 billion.
