Square Enix officially announced that Final Fantasy XIV is coming to Xbox consoles.
During the Final Fantasy Fan Fest 2023, Final Fantasy XIV game director Naoki Yoshida, Square Enix CEO Takashi Kiryu, and Xbox head Phil Spencer released the announcement on stage.
"As CEO of Square Enix, we want to continue to deliver fabulous games to fans across the world. And of course, we want to welcome the Xbox community as well," Kiryu shared on stage.
The Final Fantasy XIV is set to come in spring 2024, with Square Enix planning to bring more of their games available in Xbox.
Square Enix Exclusive Games
For years, Final Fantasy XIV have been exclusively available for PC and PlayStation. However, this day marked the a breakthrough for both companies.
Currently, Final Fantasy IX and Final Fantasy VII are the only ones available for Xbox consoles.
In a tweet, Spencer expressed his excitement with the new partnership with Square Enix.
"We're thrilled that the Xbox community will join the Warriors of Light and we look forward to partnering closely with Square Enix on future games," he tweeted.
Final Fantasy XIV Experience on Xbox
The Final Fantasy XIV is expected to come to the Series S/X, featuring faster loading time and 4K resolution for Series X.
In addition, an open beta is set to launch along with the opening of patch 6.5. Yoshida assured the fans that progress from the open beta is transferable once the Xbox version is fully released.
There are no further announcements as to what other games from Square Enix will be made available for Xbox.
