What We Know About Counter-Strike 2
To say that CSGO has been a wild, brilliant ride for the past 11 years is an understatement of the century. However, will Counter-Strike 2 looming in the horizon, there is much to be excited about when it comes to the future of the game.
As previously mentioned, it has been announced by Valve that Counter-Strike 2 serves as a major update to CSGO that will bring the game to the Source 2 engine. The official announcement was made on March 22, 2023. Despite there being no exact release date as of press time, an August 17 update to the game, which is currently on limited testing, is giving hope that that the wait will not be too long.
According to a report by Dexerto, Valve has finally added "all previously rolled out maps to its closed beta at once." The report notes that initially, only the iconic Dust 2 map was available. However, other classic maps, including Mirage and Overpass, have been added to the closed beta.
"Finally, after Italy on August 15, Valve has now decided to add 'all maps previously shipping in the Limited Test,' and it's giving CS players hope for a full launch just around the corner," Dexerto points out.
