Ubisoft is left with no choice but to delay Xdefiant after failing the certification process for Xbox and PlayStation.
XDefiant Gets Delayed Timeline
Ubisoft originally intended to launch XDefiant by summer 2023. However, Xbox and PlayStation did not gave a nod to proceed after finding out bugs and issues.
XDefiant is a free-to-play first-person shooter wherein the players will have access to factions, classes, abilities, and weapons. Game Rant reported that the factions is based on the existing Ubisoft franchises such as Phantoms from Ghost Recon and Echelon from Splinter Cell. Players will be gaming on a 6v6 maps set in the near-future United States.
Last June, Ubisoft released an open beta for the game in order to test it before its supposed summer launch. During the beta test, the a roadmap for the first four seasons was revealed.
Ubisoft Explains Certification Failure
According to Ubisoft, that the development team for XDefiant received the "Not Pass" mark in mid-August. The game did not pass the certification due to compliance and functionality bugs that need to be addressed before Xbox and PlayStation approve its release.
Ubisoft assured that the team is already working to improve and address the bugs to ensure that XDefiant's gameplay will be as smooth as it can be. The work could take about three to four weeks before submitting another certification.
XDefiant might be released by mid-to-late September 2023, if the game passes immediately. For now, Ubisoft cannot say the exact date of release until Xbox and PlayStation approves the certification.
