Resident Evil 4 Remake's much-awaited DLC is coming.
Capcom's Resident Evil 4 Remake showcase at Sony's latest State of Play revealed it will soon release the reimagining of the Separate Ways DLC for the game, along with new characters for its mercenaries mode.
The release of these add-ons for the game is also accompanied by the release of Resident Evil 4 Remake's VR Mode.
Return Of The Fan Favorites
Capcom's showcase at Sony's latest State of Play excited the gaming community. The game developer's showcase revealed that Resident Evil 4 Remake players can soon play the much-awaited Separate Ways DLC, which lets them experience Ada Wong's side of the story.
While the showcase didn't reveal much about the DLC, like its runtime, it does have some similarities to the original 2004 game. For instance, Ada will have access to her signature grapple gun, allowing her to access locations normally inaccessible to Leon or conveniently shorten travel times.
She can also use the grapple gun to attack certain enemies' weak spots, like El Gigante's, to inflict huge amounts of damage at a more convenient spot. It is unknown if she can use her grapple gun against minor enemies like Los Illuminados members in her contextual attacks.
However, if the reimagined DLC is anything like the original, Ada will have access to her handgun and shotgun at all times.
Capcom also added details that were otherwise absent in the original 2004 game. For instance, it seems Ada is infected with a virus of some sort and that its symptoms are already manifesting in her body, such as dark veins in her eyes, as Luis pointed out.
How will this virus come into play in Ada's reimagined DLC remains to be seen. Nevertheless, its arrival also means that Ada and her benefactor, Albert Wesker, will become playable characters in Resident Evil 4 Remake's Mercenaries mode.
Unfortunately, Capcom's showcase didn't reveal any of Ada's and Wesker's moves in action. Whether Capcom will do so in the upcoming Tokyo Game Show remains to be seen.
Resident Evil 4 Remake's Separate Ways DLC and Ada and Wesker's arrival in its Mercenaries mode will be available to gamers on Sept. 21. Ada and Wesker's addition to the game's Mercenaries Mode will be an update free for all gamers to download on the same day.
VR Mode Arrival
Capcm's State of Play showcase revealed not only the Separate Ways DLC but also the game's VR mode. Much like in the original 2004 game's VR mode, players can also dual-wield the weapons available to Leon.
As such, not only is it possible to use Leon's handgun and knife simultaneously, but players can also relive their Revolver Ocelot fantasies and equip two revolvers for some fancy shooting. The new first-person perspective and VR capabilities also provide a unique way of fighting Krauser during the game's knife fight with him, giving players the freedom to wield Leon's knife however they want.
Whether VR mode is also available in the Separate Ways DLC is unclear, though it is probable that players can play as Ada in VR mode, too.
Resident Evil 4 Remake's VR mode will also become available on Sept. 21.
