Genshin Impact's 4.1 update is sure to excite its players.

HoYoverse Studio Technical Director Zhenzhong Yi recently revealed what's coming to Genshin Impact with its 4.1 update, which also includes the game's third-anniversary rewards.

Genshin Impact's 4.1 update is scheduled for release on Sept. 27.

Genshin Impact's 4.1 update confirms many of the leaks that appeared before. According to Zhenzhong Yi's revelations (via PlayStation Blog), the upcoming 4.1 update contains a new Fontaine region for players to explore. The Liffey Region, the new area in question, contains the Fortress of Meropide - a massive underwater fortress inhabited by criminals from all over the region.

The Liffey Region's depth also comes with a new boss for players to fight and defeat - the beautiful yet dangerous monster, the Millenial Pearl Seahorse. This new boss can leap high into the air and unleash Electro-based attacks.

The region also comes with the Fontaine Research Institute and the mysterious floating ruins of the old one. According to Zhenzhong Yi, players can find the new boss, the Experimental Field Generator, among the ruins.

This new boss harnesses the energies the Institute's old inhabitants were experimenting on, allowing players to experience weightlessness effects; they can jump higher than usual to dodge and evade its attacks.

As previously leaked, Genshin Impact's 4.1 update comes with two new five-star characters - Fontaine's Chief Justice, Neuvilette, a Hydro catalyst user, and Wriothesley, Genshin Impact's first cryo catalyst character. Neuvilette and Wriothesley utilize attacks that drain and restore their health, though Wriothesley's skillset makes him comparable to Hu Tao's.

According to Zhenzhong Yi, when Wriothesley's health drops to a precarious level, he can inflict a powerful blow (presumably his Elemental Burst) to restore HP.

As with all updates, Genshin Impact's 4.1 update comes with an event - this year's Lantern Rite Festival, which has Hu Tao and Venti joining hands to host a poetry festival. Players can expect activities such as a special dart-throwing game called Hundred-Pace Hurling Rites and Mending Painting Prospects to piece together paintings based on Teyvat scenery.

The event will also allow players to acquire a 4-star catalyst called the Ballad of the Boundless Blue - the event-exclusive weapon previously revealed in the update's leaks. For those unaware, the Ballad of the Boundless Blue is a catalyst that increases normal and charged attack damage by 16% and 12% for six seconds, respectively.

  1. 10 Intertwined Fates (special daily login event rewards)
  2. 1,600 Primogems (in-game mailbox)

Whether Hoyoverse will add more to Genshin Impact's third-anniversary rewards remains to be seen.
