We all know the struggle of having to delete a post on X or Threads because of a typo or mistake. If you're not an X Blue subscriber, you won't have the option to edit the mistake. However, Threads might be offering the same feature without the need for a subscription.
Edit Button on Threads
Sometimes it's easy enough to let a typo slide, especially when the statement is still understandable. But, there are major mistakes that just need to be corrected, and sometimes that require you to republish the post.
Soon enough, you might not have to do that with Meta's microblogging app. As spotted by developer Alessandro Paluzzi, you can edit the post within five minutes of posting it. There's even a timer beside the edit button to show how much time you have left.
Instagram Head Adam Mossero confirmed that the feature is among the potential additions to the app, according to The Verge. Given that it was already seen in action, Meta might actually roll out the feature. If anything, this gives Threads an edge against X.
Some of the other features that Mosseri mentioned include fixing bugs, adding a following feed, and post search. So far, Threads has already added the following tab, which allows you to only see posts from the people you follow.
You can also now search for specific posts. So far, Threads is adding everything it set out to include. It is certainly evolving into the kind of platform that users miss about Twitter. X, on the other hand, might be deteriorating further.
Everyone Might Switch to Threads
Ever since Elon Musk acquired the social media platform, what was once known as Twitter has gone through so many changes that its users don't appreciate. One of the biggest changes is the subscription-based verification system.
Users have to pay in order to get the checkmark that once held the power for bragging rights. Now, everyone with a few dollars to spare every month can get it. Let's not forget Musk's handling of advertisers and the mess of it all.
A lot of advertisers have left the platform due to the site's lack of moderation after most of its employees were laid off, along with Musk's "free speech" absolutist vision for X. This serves as a problem since it is the company's main source of revenue.
Now, the X owner is considering putting the entire platform behind a paywall. According to The Guardian, this is an attempt to get rid of the bots or automated accounts in X. It's not clear whether the X subscription exempts a user from the monthly payment for access.
The Tesla CEO expressed that bots cost "a fraction of a penny" to create and that requiring to pay "a few dollars or something" would drive them away. This way, when a person creates a bot account, they will need another payment method.
There's still no news on whether the company will go ahead with the plan. Stating that the platform has 550 million monthly users and 200 million posts a day, that might drastically go down once the payment requirement is implemented.
