Daedalic Claims Released Apology was Written Using ChatGPT
Last May, Daedalic Entertainment and Nacon published the much-awaited The Lord of the Rings: Gollum game. However, just a mere day after its release the game was met with negative feedback from the gaming community. Metacritic also labeled the game as "uninteresting and fundamentally broken."
Following its failure, The Lord of the Rings: Gollum team issued an apology letter for not meeting the expectations that they set for the team and for its target audience. The letter also assured that the development team has been working to address the bugs and technical issues that were raised by the gamers.
However, months after the whole charade Daedalic claims that the apology was generated using ChatGPT and that the developers had no knowledge of the conception of the apology. Moreover, Daedalic also stated that the decision was solely made by Nacon without any input from the developer's side.
What Went Wrong With LOTR: Gollum?
Going into the Metacritic site revealed that 80 percent of the reviews for the game were negative. Some even stated that it was a failure on almost every level. Moreover, some are saying that it was a waste of license and just downright ugly gameplay.
Considering that the game had already met with years of delay, some fans were actually expecting it to fail at some point. Gollum was first announced in early 2019 and was set to release by 2021, then the release was pushed to 2022 until it was finally launched in 2023.
