LinkedIn finished its second round of layoff after cutting 668 employees across engineering, product, talent, and finance teams.
LinkedIn Streamlines Decision-Making
In a recent statement, LinkedIn attributed the changes to streamline the company's decision-making. While the company admitted that changes are indeed difficult, LinkedIn stated that the layoff was a "necessary and regular part" of managing the business.
"While we are adapting our organizational structures and streamlining our decision making, we are continuing to invest in strategic priorities for our future and to ensure we continue to deliver value for our members and customers," the company wrote.
In May, LinkedIn laid off 716 employees due to reorganization for "greater agility and growth." Meanwhile, its parent company Microsoft, also had a series of layoffs with around 10,000 positions eliminated at the beginning of the year.
LinkedIn Looks to the Future With AI
The company also sets its eyes on AI and has started to work on adding tools that are AI-powered. Earlier this year, LinkedIn introduced AI tools that help in generating profile copy and job descriptions. In addition, there were also reports that the company is developing an AI coach for job applications.
These moves will seemingly progress more in the following years as Microsoft continues to develop its AI tools. "As our world evolves, we will continue redefining work while embracing new AI technologies and safety features that help us keep LinkedIn safe, trusted, and professional," the company explained.
