Microsoft officially announced that its Security Copilot AI assistant is now available for an early access program.
Microsoft Security Copilot Early Access
Microsoft initially announced Security Copilot last March as the company's first generative AI security product. The company introduced it as a way to help security teams protect their organizations. Moreover, it was intended for teams that are building large language models and handling global threat intelligence.
The early access program is now available to eligible customers. In addition, the company also added a couple of features such as the new embedded experience, Microsoft 365 Defender, which will guide analysts by making actionable recommendations based on a single unified experience.
Meanwhile, the Microsoft Defender Threat Intelligence is now offered at no additional cost with the Security Copilot. This will give customers direct access to operate on and integrate Microsoft's threat intelligence. Organizations that work with Managed Security Service Providers and will also join the program are allowed to extend access to their Security Copilot environment.
Security Copilot's Goal
Microsoft built Security Copilot as a solution to balance out the unprecedented surge in cyber threats that have been looming on the internet since the rise of AI. The company called for a paradigm shift in the security industry to face such challenges.
"Security Copilot can effectively up-skill a security team, regardless of its expertise, save them time, enable them to find what previously they might have missed, and free them to focus on the most impactful projects," Corporate VP of security, compliance, identity and management Vasu Jakkal stated.
Based on Microsoft's data, preview customers of Security Copilot stated that their teams were able to save up to 40 percent of their time on performing core security operations tasks. Hence, the product is an effective tool to upskill a security team and at the same time give them time to focus on more impactful projects.
