GPT-4 Turbo Makes a Difference

One stark difference between the GPt-4 Turbo and previous versions is that the answers' context is now up to April 2023. On the contrary, prior versions such as the free version only provide answers within the January 2022 context.

"We are just as annoyed as all of you, probably more, that GPT's knowledge about the world ended in 2021," CEO Sam Altman stated during his speech at the OpenAI DevDay event. Aside from extended context, the Turbo version also accepts up to 300 pages in length as compared to the previous 3,000-word limit.

In addition, GPT-4 also supports DALL-E 3, which is an AI-generated image and text-to-speech tool. There are six preset voices as an option, so users can pick which voice they would like to hear the answer from.

The GPT-4 Turbo is now available in preview for developers and at a cheaper cost. "GPT-4 Turbo input tokens are 3x cheaper than GPT-4 at $0.01 and output tokens are 2x cheaper at $0.03," the company announced. Meanwhile, the new AI model is expected to be released to all in the coming weeks.

OpenAI Allows ChatGPT Customization

With around 100 million users per week, ChatGPT is one of the most used chatbots among its competitors. OpenAI decided to make a move that will widen the distinction between ChatGPT and other AI chatbots by allowing users to custom-build their own chatbots.

"With custom models, our researchers will work closely with a company to help make a great custom model, especially for them and their use case using our tools," Altman revealed. This will require modification in the step of the model training, tailor-specific domain, and more.

However, the CEO explained that the custom models will be done in a small number of organizations first due to their complexity and the possibility of the expensive price. Meanwhile, OpenAI pledged that it would pay any costs user will incur from copyright infringement claims, something that Microsoft and Google has been working also.
