PS5 Slim Model Disk Drive is Swapabble

Upon receiving his new PS5 console, YouTuber Mystic recorded his unboxing of the device and shared the good news with people who are still thinking twice before buying the new model. According to the tech reviewer, if players have two detachable disc drives they are free to swap them between PS5 systems. The device will quickly register the new drive.

Some PS5 enthusiasts have voiced their worry before the release of the new model, as they initially thought that drives would be locked to one system only. Fortunately, once the new drive is registered, it can be used offline again without any issues. However, if the user resets the detachable drive, the system will need to have an internet connection for the registration.

Compared to the previous model of PS5 which can be set up without an internet connection, the Slim model needs to be connected at least once. Many PS5 users also voiced their concern about not being able to play this type of system if Sony decided to close its online servers. However, this could still be far away from now.

Sony Might Answer Questions in Future Patch Update

During the announcement of the PS5 Slim model, Sony announced that it would become the standard console once the original design stocks ran out. While the new model still has the same power as the original, it offers a sleek and thinner design making it more storage-friendly. The previous PS5 model received many complaints due to its bulky and unusual design.

Fans are hoping that the company will address such concerns in a future update patch since the PS6 could take some years before it gets launched. Meanwhile, Sony has been promoting the Slim model by bundling it with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 to attract more gamers to buy the new console.
