Bending Spoons Axes Filmic

The relationship between Bending Spoons and Filmic started last year. Filmic Pro became a popular app among iPhone users by allowing its users to experience a professional camera while using their phones.

When Filmic was onboarded to Bending Spoons, the app makers promised to accelerate their development cycles and create a stronger and more valuable Filmic experience for their expanding customers.

However, a recent report from PetaPixel revealed that the team has been officially removed by Bending Spoons, ending the work on Filmic Pro and Filmic Firstlight. There are also reports showing that the entire team, including founder and CEO Neill Barham, was laid off.

Bending Spoons' Acquisitions

Bending Spoons is known for operating multiple applications such as Splice, Remini, and 30-Day Fitness. The company also completed acquiring Evernote, earlier this year.

However, months after the absorption, the company let go of most of its U.S. and Chile Evernote employees since the company will be moving the work to Europe.

Meanwhile, Filmic's acquisition also brought some delays when it came to its development. The last major feature update of the app was already a year old, with the Apple Log support coming in last October.

The layoff of the Filmic Pro team is still not publicly disclosed by Bending Spoons.
