Similar to online messaging emotes, the Photomoji now allows Android owners to send reactions and stickers to messages on the app.

As a twist, users can also create their custom reaction pics. This can be done by long-pressing the SMS or RCS chat and searching for the "Create" button at the bottom of the reactions bar.

The custom reaction images will be taken from the phone's gallery, where the app will automatically select a portion of the image that will be imported as a Photomoji.

Manual refinements, however, are still not present. You just have to trust Google Messages' AI that it highlights the right part of the image.

Google earlier announced the release of Photomoji along with its 1 billion RCS users celebration.

There is no date yet when Google will launch the Photomoji to the public, but the Reactions Effects and Animated Emoji are already out now on all updated Google Messages on Android.

More Google Messages Features

Photomoji is not the only feature Google has added to its messaging app. There are more all-new features the search engine giant rolled out in one go.

Here is the complete list of the other tidbits users will soon experience on the app

  • Voice moods - adds reaction templates and visual effects to a much better audio quality of voice messages
  • Screen effects - certain keywords will produce unique animations when sent by either party
  • Custom bubble - customized bubble color and backgrounds for each message thread
  • Profiles - personalized profile name and picture card to accompany the phone number

The other features are expected to roll out soon to all Android devices in the coming days.

How to Get the New Google Messages Update

The new features are available to all Google Messages users for free. All of these will soon be used with the next update on the app.

The RCS app is free to download on the Google Play Store and App Store.

Google Messages became recently available on iPhone and iPad devices this year. And yes, the iMessage app is still there if you want to use it.
