iPhone users, update your devices now!
Apple has rolled out the iOS 17.2 update with all new features and certain bug fixes for richer user experience.
The tech giant released the upgrade on Monday that comes with the new Journal app and spatial video support for its camera, as well as contact key verification for iMessage.
The update came sooner than expected after it had gone through beta tests. Apple's last update, the iOS 17.1.2, was just released last Thursday.
iOS 17.2 Showcase New Features and Improvements
First announced in June of this year, the Journal app will help "users reflect and practice gratitude through journaling."
Unlike regular journaling apps, Apple's contender can recognize "Moments" from the phone's data and provide writing suggestions based on these Moments.
Third-party developers can also access the Suggestions API to encourage users to create journals on their experience on other apps.
Apple assured that all information relayed in the Journal app is protected by end-to-end encryption.
For iPhone 15 Pro users, now have the chance to see their favorite moments in 3D via Apple Vision Pro's Photos app with the now-added spatial video capture support.
iMessage is also getting a new layer of protection to its system with the Contact Key Verification system to verify that users are messaging the intended contact. The feature also applies to FaceTime.
This feature was added after a third-party app was able to transmit iMessage's iconic blue message bubbles to Android. Apple soon confirmed that it took down the app for security reasons.
