"We know you're excited, and so are we! But we need a bit more time and look forward to an exciting return to the Commonwealth in 2024," the game developer shared on X.
The next-gen update is set to enhance the performance level of the game by allowing higher framerates and 4K graphics support. There are also bug fixes and more Creation Club content from the mod support.
Fallout 4 Announcement Meets Mixed Feedback
Fans shared their mixed reaction upon the announcement. Some were questioning why the company is taking up to two years before releasing an FPS and resolution boost. On the other hand, some fans were willing to wait for the big update.
Fallout 4 was released in 2015 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. The next-gen update will reportedly include availability for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. As of writing, there is no definite date for its tentative release next year.
For now, fans of the franchise can wait for the upcoming Prime Video "Fallout" TV series as the next mainline Fallout game is still years away in the making.
