Mojang Studios announced that the development for Minecraft Legends has officially ended, only less than a year after the game was released.
The Minecraft spin-off was launched last April 2023 under Mojang's owner, Microsoft.
Minecraft Legends Developers Step Back From Development
In a blog post, senior creative writer at Mojang Studios, Cristina Anderca revealed that the studio had been gathering and implementing feedback from the community. She cited that it is already complete and the team is now going to "take a step back from development."
In line with the announcement, the team unveiled a last freebie for gamers which is the Bright-Eyed Hero skin. The freebie is now available to claim on Minecraft Legends Marketplace.
In addition, the Lost Legends challenges will remain available for free and players can still earn rewards from their victory. The technical support, functionalities, and all features from the game will still be available but there will be no new content anymore.
Mojang Hints More Minecraft Universe
Despite its short development era, Mojang Studios promised that it would continue to explore and bring new experiences to the Minecraft universe. Hence, players can still continue to watch out for upcoming spin-off games like Minecraft Legends.
"Together, we united the Overworld, made some adorably scary friends, and most importantly, showed those piglins that they messed with the wrong dimension, again and again," the company wrote.
Last year, Mojang also announced the end of development for the Minecraft Dungeons after the game achieved over 25 million players.
