The Samsung Galaxy S24 has just been released and people are already comparing it with other smartphones.
Is it better than the previous Samsung phone? Is it worth the money? Is it actually better than iPhone?
While Samsung's Galaxy and Apple' iPhone both have different demographic, there is still one aspect of the devices we can compare. The camera.
Samsung has finally introduced its 10x Optical Zoom feature to the world with the S24 Ultra. The question now is it much better than iPhone Pro's 5x Optical Zoom
Optical Zoom Range
For its range alone, Samsung takes the top spot with its Optical quality zoom from 2x to 10x with a digital zoom feature of up to 100x. That is sure to capture clearly details at least 100 meters from the camera.
The iPhone 15 Pro only has 3x optical zoom in with a 6x digital zoom range. Even the iPhone 15 Pro Max cannot compete with Samsung's maximum range with a 25x digital zoom range only.
Picture Quality
Zoom range does not always equate to better picture quality overall. In both close and far distance picture, iPhone 15 Pro is the more superior phone.
With a 100% Focus Pixels, the Apple product can capture crystal clear images despite Samsung having more megapixels in both rear and front camera.
It is also worth to note that the 5x Optical zoom in iPhone is ensured to provide clear video and camera feed, while Samsung's quality deteriorates the further you zoom in.
AI Enhancement
Both cameras use AI enhancement to capture photos from afar much clearly. The AI is use to fill in blurry parts of the image to what it thinks should it actually look like.
This feature entirely relies on the phone's processors and output performance. For perspective, the S24 is equipped with the top-of-the-line Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processing chip.
Aside from battery life, the Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 is much better than Apple's A17 pro chip across the performance indicators.
This also means that the phone will have more capacity for better AI, especially in enhancing images with words, a feature that the Apple's iPhone is lagging behind.
Battery Usage
Since Samsung is using a Snapdragon chip to enhance its images, it is expected that it will also drain the device much faster. Not to count all the heating issues that comes with the processor.
The iPhone 15 series also heat up much faster than its predecessors but still have relatively longer battery life in comparison to Samsung's.
Here are just some of the key differences between the two. Whether which is actually much worth the price is up to the user's preferences.
After all, it will still depend on what feature from the device matters the most for the user.
