BeReal launched two new categories that are made specifically for brands and celebrities: RealBrands and RealPeople, which are intended to share behind-the-scene moments of their lives with their fans.
RealBrands and RealPeople will be available upon sign-up starting February 6.
BeReal Partners With Brands, Celebrities
BeReal is highly praised for being a minimalist and authentic social media app. The app was designed to encourage people to share raw moments with their closest friends at different time each day.
The app was originally intended to share unfiltered moments and away from the glamorous and staged moments from Instagram which is mainly inspired by celebrities and brands.
However, BeReal explained the company's message for inviting brands and celebrities to join the platform without misaligning the app's mission.
"We believe that by showing that notable people and brands are actually people just like us - equally boring and interesting at different times - we help reset and improve some of the negativity that has come from modern social platforms," the company wrote.
BeReal Welcomes 23 Million Daily Active Users
Last year, BeReal reported that it had 20 million daily active users. In a recent data shared with TechCrunch, the company announced that it has increased by 3 million.
However, like any other social media, the growth will gradually decelerate unless the app continues to provide impressive features that will encourage users to continue using the app.
Over the past few months, BeReal has been rolling out features like group mentions, allowing multiple posts, friends of friends feed, and more. As of writing, around 13% of the teens in the U.S. use the app.
"For those of you concerned that this is changing our focus, we can assure you that BeReal will always be about friends and close connections first," the company assured.
