Airbnb co-founder and CEO Brian Chesky announced that the company is planning to create the "most innovative AI interfaces ever created" by offering the ultimate concierge experience to its customers.
In addition, the company will also make use of the previous acquisition of stealth AI firm, GamePlanner.
Airbnb Preps on AI-Powered Tools for Customers
During the company's release of the Q4 2023 revenue, Chesky revealed that the company is finally utilizing its previous acquisition to create new customer experiences. According to the CEO, Airbnb's next step will transform it from single vertical to a cross-vertical company.
"Imagine an app that you feel like knows you - it's like the ultimate concierge - an interface that is adaptive and evolving and changing in real-time, unlike no interface you've ever seen before," Chesky explained.
Last November 2023, Airbnb acquired GamePlanner for $200 million. Despite its big outlook on using AI, Chesky clarified that the company has no intention to develop its own models. Instead, the GamePlanner will be used to create new interface for accessing AI models.
Airbnb Welcomes Increased Revenue
The earnings call also revealed that the company's revenue increased by 17% with four percent lift in sales and marketing spend. Last year, customers saw various upgrades from Airbnb's service starting with a couple of AI-powered tools.
While the internet itself made it possible for Airbnb to prosper, Chesky believes that AI will be a definite game changer for the business.
"[This] is also a shift in power. It's a shift in behavior. And so I think this is a zero-zero ballgame,"
The company did not disclose yet the specific details about its upcoming AI products and services. Regardless, Chesky announced that there would be more announcements coming this year.
